Two beautiful large Bible pages with woodblock prints from a large illustrated pulpit version of Martin Luther’s important Bible translation. Printed by Wolfgang Endter in Nuremberg Germany. This Bible was printed in 14 editions from 1641 to 1758 and I believe these leaves are from one of the early 1700s edition. The pages are around 14.25×9.25 in size.
Martin Luther leader of the German Protestant Reformation, sought to place the Bible into the hands of ordinary Christians. He translated it from Latin (The language of scholars, clergy and the elite.) into the every day German vernacular for the common people. Martin Luther’s translation along with the invention of the printing press allowed for the wide spread ownership and reading of the Bible for the first time in Germany followed soon after by the Bible in English and other common languages.
This is an amazing piece of history to own at an affordable price. Our normal price for these leaves is $29.95 each but they are only $23.96 each right now because of our 20% off sale! The price is for one leaf. (Each leaf has a woodblock print on one side and text on the back side.)
